Q. When you are in the navy, i was told i don't have customs or need a passport, so not to bring it to boto camp. my question is though, how do they check your records and such when you go to foreign ports of call? or do they just assume if you're navy you're safe. and as far as drugs and such, not that i'm planning on anything, but how does the navy check without customs, does navy have there own customs or is this a trust kinda thing. a friend told me interpol does the checks? When you are out in town, make sure you have military ID on you at all times, and don't lose it (you need your ID to get off the ship in the first place). If you get in trouble in other countries, try to contact the ship or U.S. embassy immediately. When your ship comes home, usually there are custom agents with couple of dogs to sniff the ship out. Have fun, but please, don't do anything stupid to ruin Americans reputations. I still have couple of long cruises left before I get out.
